LARGER AUTUMN & ART CROWDS CAME OUT TO ENJOY ART AND BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

Award-winning artists take home $7,500 in prizes; 2017 event set for Sept. 15-17

September 18, 2016 - WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. and Laham Development officials announced brisk crowds at the seventh-annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, presented by Fidelity Bank, Friday through 5 p.m. today on Bradley Fair Parkway. Cash awards totally $7,500 were presented this morning to eight of the artists participating in the region’s largest fine-art show and sale.

According to festival officials, the outdoor art festival saw an increase of attendees to over 29,000, a 16% increase over 2015, when 25,000 were in attendance.

More than 800 patrons and sponsor companies supported the event, with a crowd in excess of 700 at the opening night Patron Party. Patrons returned throughout the weekend and enjoyed reserved parking, complimentary beverages and other benefits. New programming, including a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, lawn games and a Free Little Library project presented by StoryTime Village joined paddle-boat rides on Bradley Fair Lake and art-themed fun for families to drive the increase in attendance, along with sunny, mild weather on Saturday and Sunday.

Response from the public has been enthusiast. Larger crowds of art fans of all ages came out this year, and have been soaking up the sunshine and exploring this amazing variety of artwork, cementing the show as one of the community’s leading arts events.”

Next year’s Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair has been scheduled for Sept. 15-17, 2017.

The 2016 event featured 98 artists who were invited to participate after the show’s jury – comprised of John D’Angelo, Rollin Karg, Sherry Leedy, Patricia McDonnell, and Bob Workman– evaluated their work. The cash prizes were awarded at a breakfast Sunday hosted by the Hilton Garden Inn. Judges included Polly Gentry, Lori Martin-Price, and Conrad Snider.

Bill and Lisa Bailey, jewelers from Dripping Springs, Texas, won Best of Show. Fiber artist Mary Sly of Friday Harbor, Wash., was presented with the Patron Award.

Here are the winners for overall achievement in two-dimensional art, which include two-dimensional mixed media, drawing, graphics/printmaking, painting and photography:

AUTUMN & ART AT BRADLEY FAIR BRINGS 99 ARTISTS TOGETHER TO SHOW, SELL

Weekend of fun kicks off with Friday’s Patron Party, continues with programs through the weekend

Sept. 15, 2016 - WICHITA, Kan. – The seventh annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair opens Friday with new programs and fun for art enthusiasts of all ages. The outdoor fine-art show and sale, which is free and open to the public, features 99 artists from 23 states, including 30 Kansas artists, and also includes food, drinks, entertainment and art-infused activities.

The event, which drew 25,000 attendees in 2015, is presented by Fidelity Bank and produced by Wichita Festivals, Inc. Attendees can see and purchase original fine-art works in 14 media, including paintings, jewelry, sculptures, drawings and photographs, as well as glass, wood, ceramic, and fiber pieces.

FEATURED ARTIST, PROGRAMMING ADDITIONS REVEALED FOR AUTUMN & ART AT BRADLEY FAIR 2016


August 31, 2016 - WICHITA, Kan.
– Wichita Festivals, Inc. officials today announced new activities for the 7th-Annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, an alfresco fine-art fair presented by Fidelity Bank, and revealed the festival’s Featured Artist.

Autumn & Art, which last year drew 25,000 attendees, takes place Sept. 16-18 on Bradley Fair Parkway. This year’s event will feature 99 artists from 23 states, including 30 Kansas artists.

“The arts merit our community’s attention, support and celebration,” said Clay Bastian, president of Fidelity Financial Corporation. “We invite our entire community to join us at Autumn & Art to experience the inspired creative spirit that makes Wichita a special place.”

Barbara Mason of Frisco, Texas, is the Grant Thornton LLP Featured Artist for Autumn & Art 2016. Mason is an international award-winning watercolor artist and a Signature pastel artist recognized by the Pastel Society of America.

“Art makes all of our lives more beautiful, and we are thrilled to help bring that beauty to families in the Wichita community by sponsoring the Featured Artist at Autumn & Art,” said Dan Powers, office managing partner of Grant Thornton, sponsor of the Featured Artist Program. “We are delighted to inspire and engage the community through the celebration of extraordinary art and artists.”

New activities for Autumn & Art 2016 include the StoryTime Village Community Art Project with a focus on Little Free Libraries; coloring for grown-ups with Legend Senior Living; The Art of Bloody Marys, a build-your-own bar on Saturday and Sunday mornings; the Chill & Charge Lounge with a charging station by Living Sound and billiards courtesy of Chilton’s Billiards & Spas; and over-sized lawn games, including giant Jenga and chess.

NICE WEATHER, NEW ACTIVITIES DRIVE RECORD CROWDS TO AUTUMN & ART

Award-winning artists take home $7,500 in prizes; 2016 event set for Sept. 16-18

Sept. 20, 2015, WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. and Laham Development officials announced record-breaking crowds at the sixth-annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, presented by Fidelity Bank, Friday through today on Bradley Fair Parkway. Eight of the 100 outstanding artists who exhibited their work in this, the region’s largest fine-art show and sale, won cash awards totaling $7,500.

Full attendance will be released at 5:30 p.m. today, but organizers noted that with most of the event’s final day remaining, the art festival had already welcomed more attendees than in 2014, when 18,000 total festivalgoers attended.

More than 700 patrons supported the event, attended the opening night Patron Party and enjoyed reserved parking and complimentary beverages throughout the weekend. Beautiful weather and new programming – including a wine tasting, a whiskey sampling, and a theatrical photo booth – joined paddle-boat rides on Bradley Fair Lake and art-themed family fun to drive the increase in attendance.

Programs, Featured Artist Revealed for Sixth Annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. officials today announced new activities for the 6th-Annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, an alfresco fine-art fair presented by Fidelity Bank, and revealed the festival’s Featured Artist.

Autumn & Art, which last year drew 18,000 attendees, takes place Sept. 18-20 on Bradley Fair Parkway and will feature 101 artists from 23 states, including 34 Kansas artists.

Oil painter Ernest Vincent Wood III is the Grant Thornton LLP Featured Artist for Autumn & Art 2015. A Wichita native and graduate of Wichita State University, Wood is a recipient of a Kansas Cultural Trust Grant, has studied at the International School for Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy and has exhibited in Ireland.

New activities for Autumn & Art 2015 include a Wine & Art Tasting featuring an olive-oil tasting, a Whiskey Sampling & Cigar Bar, Fun with Hoops, and Celestial Caravan, a photo booth sponsored by The Flint Hills Group at Morgan Stanley. Artists Hallie Linnebur and Meghan Miller will transform participants with costumes and props and pose them in an early 20th century science-fiction scene to produce a one-of-a-kind souvenir photo.

Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair admission is free for the public, thanks to Patrons who support the event by purchasing a $100 Patron Ticket. Patrons enjoy a lavish opening night party sponsored by PixPro and The Bar’s Open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, with gourmet food; specialty wine, beer and spirits; a silent auction and wine pull; Patron gifts and Latin jazz by A Terra Plana. Patrons also get reserved parking and complimentary beverages throughout the weekend.

Friday night’s Patron Party silent auction features two premium center court seats to a 2015 WSU Men's Basketball home game, tickets to concerts by the Foo Fighters and Asleep at the Wheel, Kansas City Chiefs tickets and passes to some of the area’s most popular galas, and more.

Art-themed family fun, coordinated by The Wichita Center for the Arts and sponsored by the Fred & Mary Koch Foundation, will be offered Saturday and Sunday. Artie’s Clubhouse, a kids’-only gallery, offers artwork for a kid’s budget; a variety of free, hands-on art activities will be available at Artie’s Art Studio; and Artie’s Masterpiece Games give youngsters a chance to have fun while learning about classic artworks. In addition, paddle boat rides on Bradley Fair Lake will be back by popular demand.

Entertainment — from live music, dance and theater to art demonstrations — will be presented throughout the weekend. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available to enjoy on the parkway. Cuisine from Jason’s Deli, Outback Steakhouse and Il Vicino will be offered at the Culinary Pavilion.

“Once a year, a national-caliber fine-art show pops up along Bradley Fair Parkway, and thanks to our generous sponsors and Patrons, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the experience,” said Mary Beth Jarvis, President/CEO of Wichita Festivals, Inc. “Whether you’re browsing or buying, you can take in the beautiful artwork and enjoy music, food and drink, plus activities for all ages.”

At Autumn & Art, original works will be available in 11 artistic media, including jewelry, painting, glass, fiber, ceramics, photography and more. Exhibiting artists compete for cash awards totaling $7,500. The Legend Senior Living Patron Award will also be presented, based on evaluation by a sponsor team.

Artists are invited to sell their work at the show after evaluation by a panel of expert jurors: Howard Ellington, executive director, Allen-Lambe House Museum; Rollin Karg, artist and owner of Karg Art Glass; Sherry Leedy, owner of Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art in Kansas City; and Patricia McDonnell, executive director of Wichita Art Museum.

Autumn & Art will be open 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20 on Bradley Fair Parkway, just east of Bradley Fair, which is located at Rock Road and 21st Street North.

WICHITA FESTIVALS CELEBRATES RECORD ATTENDANCE AT AUTUMN & ART
Top artists win $7,500 in prizes at 5th-annual show; next year’s event set for Sept. 18-20, 2015

Sept., 17, 2014 - WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. officials announced that nearly 18,000 people attended the fifth-annual Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, presented by Fidelity Bank, Friday through Sunday on Bradley Fair Parkway. Outstanding artists who exhibited their work in this, the region’s largest fine-art show and sale, won cash awards totaling $7,500.

The event’s total attendance was up 20 percent from 2013’s estimate of 15,000 festivalgoers. More than 600 patrons supported the event by purchasing tickets to the opening night Patron Party, which also provided them with reserved parking and complimentary beverages throughout the weekend. Hundreds enjoyed taking a spin around Bradley Fair Lake in paddle boats, a new addition to the event this year.

“The financial support we get from sponsors and Patrons allows us to offer Autumn & Art to the community with free admission,” said Mary Beth Jarvis, president/CEO of WFI. “The show has grown quickly to be a wonderful addition to the area’s arts and culture offerings. We’re just thrilled that it has been so well-received by attendees and look forward to another five years and beyond.”

Next year’s Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair has been scheduled for Sept. 18-20, 2015.

The 2014 event featured 99 artists who were invited to participate after the show’s jury – comprised of Howard Ellington, Rollin Karg, Sherry Leedy, and Patricia McDonnell – evaluated their work. The cash prizes were awarded at a breakfast Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn at Bradley Fair. Judges included Wade Hampton, Conrad Snider, Bob Workman and Carol Wilson.

The Patron Award, which was selected by vote of guests at Friday’s Patron Party, went to Scott Hartley, a glass artist from Benton, for his hand-sculpted art glass.

Aletha Jones, a painter from Madison, Wisc., won Best of Show for her quirky garden landscapes.

Here are the winners for overall achievement in two-dimensional art, which include two-dimensional mixed media, digital art, drawing, graphics/printmaking, painting and photography:
* 1st Place: Laura Nugent (Painting) of Merriam, Kan.
* 2nd Place: Don Coons (Drawing) of Wichita
* 3rd Place: Stephen Smith (Painting) of Broken Arrow, Okla.

These artists were recognized among artists with three-dimensional works, including three-dimensional mixed media, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture and wood:
* 1st Place: Samuel Yao (Fiber) of Ann Arbor, Mich.
* 2nd Place: Karen Gelbard (Fiber) of Pacific City, Ore.
* 3rd Place: John McDonald (Glass) of Valley Center, Kan.

AUTUMN & ART AT BRADLEY FAIR REVEALS NEW PROGRAMS, FEATURED ARTIST

5th-Annual event expands popular Patron Party, adds paddle boat rides, singles wine-tasting

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. and Laham Development officials today announced new activities and patron benefits for Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair, presented by Fidelity Bank, and revealed the event’s 2014 Featured Artist.

“Art has the power to unite us,” said Clark Bastian, chairman and CEO of Fidelity Bank. “We are proud to support this amazing event where works of individual expression become a shared community experience.”

An alfresco fine-art show and sale, Autumn & Art takes place Sept. 12-14 on Bradley Fair Parkway. The event features 99 artists from 21 states, including 21 Kansas artists, ten of whom are from Wichita.

New to Autumn & Art this year are paddle boats on Bradley Fair Lake. Attendees can take a 15 minute people-powered ride for $5 a person. A silent auction has been added to the popular Patron Party. A variety of items will be up for bid, including tickets to premier events, galas and fundraisers, such as the Tallgrass Film Festival, Holiday Galleria Premier Party, Midwest Winefest, and Fashion Passion Runway Show and Auction for Rainbows United, among others.

A Singles Wine Tasting event hosted by Suzanna Mathews, The Date Maven, debuts this year as well. The mixer and sampling is scheduled for 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13. Tickets for the tasting are $25 per person and can be purchased at the door or at AutumnandArt.com.

Autumn & Art is free and open to the public, thanks to the support of sponsors and Patrons. Those who purchase a $100 Patron Ticket enjoy reserved parking and complimentary beverages throughout the weekend and are invited to a lavish opening-night party. Fiber artist Prince Duncan-Williams of Las Vegas, Nev., is the featured artist for Autumn & Art 2014. His silk fiber mosaic, “Rhythms III,” (48" x 36") was selected for this year’s commemorative poster. Signed copies of the poster will be available for purchase for $10 at  The Frame Shop in Bradley Fair and at the event. Original fine-art works in a wide variety of media will be available at Autumn & Art, including paintings, drawings, and photographs as well as glass, jewelry, wood, ceramic, and fiber pieces.

Fine artworks in a wide variety of media will be available, including paintings; drawings; photographs; and glass, jewelry, ceramic and fiber pieces. Multimedia two-dimensional artist Pamela Spika of Parker, Colo., is the featured artist at Autumn & Art 2013. Her painting, “Always a Dreamer,” was selected for this year’s commemorative poster.

Featured Artist Pamela Spika

“Always a Dreamer” by Pamela Spika is the Featured Artwork for Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair 2013. Each year a piece is selected from the pool of exhibiting artists by a team of judges to represent Autumn & Art in advertisements and other promotional initiatives.

About the Artist
Working out of her studio in Parker, Colo., Pamela Spika fashions works of art from a mixture of media, including canvas, decorative paper, acrylics, pencils, crayons and metal leang. Each of Spika’s pieces is original and features a unique blend of technical, geometric precision and lively, contemporary colors. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colo., Spika has showcased her work at numerous art shows and exhibits, including Autumn & Art 2012 and two international shows: the 18th International Art Festival in Manila, Philippines in 2009, and the Pyeoungtaek International Art Festival in Pyeoungtaek, South Korea in 2007. Spika has been the recipient of many awards in her career, including Best in Show at the Parker Artist Guild “Duets” Show for her work with Tadashi Hayakawa in 2009, and 1st Place Fine Art, Mixed Media at Castle Rock Artfest in Castle Rock, Colorado in 2007. Spika’s work hangs in many public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
